Use this 3D printed slider to get a razor shar mirror finish knife edge quickly and easily!
Use this slider and PSA lapping films to take your Work Sharp Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener to the next level. While the included ceramic stone does give decent results, the best way to get a mirror finish and razor sharp edge with with higher grit lapping films.
With this slider, you can easily mount PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) lapping films to a dedicated surface instead of using the ceramic stone that comes with the sharpener.
Using this will allow you to save time by not having to peel and stick films to your ceramic stone every time you change grits. You will also preserve the films adhesive from excessive use.
With films mounted to this slider, it is also possible to grind both directions (up and down) on the blade with minimal risk of cutting into the films.
PRO TIP: If you’re careful not to drag too far down off the edge of your blade, you may also use a neodymium magnet on the end of the guide rod in lieu of the rubber stopper ring to make swapping sliders even more quick and easy!
Lapping Film Color/Grit reference:
Green: 600 grit
Yellow: 1200 grit
Light Blue: 1,800 grit
Pink: 8,000 grit
Light Green: 14,000 grit
White: 60,000 grit
Note: When brand new, there may be some resistance between the slider and the guide rod. This is intentional- after a couple minutes of use it will wear in to give a silky smooth motion with less play than the included slider!
